At Green Plains Ranch, our goal is simple: to provide heart-healthy, nutrient-dense beef raised on open Ohio pastures. Our Criollo cattle are naturally lean, producing flavorful beef that’s lower in fat and higher in essential nutrients than conventional meat.

We use Criollo cattle because they're perfectly suited for grass-fed production.   Originating from hardy Spanish stock, Criollo are naturally efficient grazers that thrive on diverse pastures and require minimal intervention.  Their smaller frames and adaptive metabolism allow them to convert forage into lean, nutrient-dense beef with exceptional flavor and tenderness - without the need for grain finishing. This makes Criollo the ideal breed for our regenerative, grass-fed program focused on healthy animals, healthy land, and heart healthy beef.

 

Cattle raised entirely on pasture produce beef that’s lower in saturated fat, higher in omega-3 fatty acids, and rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The result is beef that’s naturally lean, deeply flavorful, and completely free from grain, hormones, and antibiotics.
